Three Common Myths about Teaching (Part 1)

Education is a very vast industry, a lot of its overall significance is base on teachers' actions, qualities, and characters. But just like an ill-used cryptic, being a teacher has some myths that until this point people believe. This misconception basically leads to more confusing notions about being a teacher, so let's check on those and let me give you my opinion about it.

Disclaimer: All of my posts are for entertainment purposes only. All of this is base on my real-life teaching experience. I just want people to find a relatable topic; please do not come for me.

Here is the most common top three teaching myth out in the world.

1. Teachers are born, not made

Just like being a priest or a nun, being a teacher should be engraved to a soul. In my opinion, this myth is not true, I mean anybody can have a teacher as a title, but only rare being become a true educator. Teaching is considered one of the noblest professions, and it is not for the faint of heart. So either you are born or made to be a teacher as long as you have the initiative. You tell to yourself you are a teacher, then you are a teacher.

2. Teachers enjoy a vacation

Nope! Teachers do not enjoy vacations. I mean what is even a vacation for teachers. I am just speaking from experience. Students do have a vacation, after their long period of the school year. As for teachers, the school year doesn't end when students have their vacation. We still need to do paper works, finalize grades, reports and actually prepare in advance for the next school year. So vacation is not applicable for teachers, the only vacation in my opinion we enjoy is either our own birthday or Christmas.

3. Teachers are overpaid

In some countries maybe! Hear me out before attacking me guys. So teacher salary varies in many ways, depending on years of experience, higher learning status, certifications, licenses, and etc. Salary does differ when we speak of being a teacher. But again, as mentioned depending on the country. As far as I know, teachers around the world work beyond our typical working time, they spent their own money on their own materials, they portray multiple roles inside the school, and more but yet in terms of pay, I think it is not only enough, not beyond what other professions think.

Either you call it myths of facts, in reality asking your teachers will give you some idea about what is happening. View becoming a teacher in a different light.
